About the Role

Developers with a taste for mobile, we are after an Android artisan to assemble apps of any kind. More specifically, we are looking for a native developer that is experienced with both the latest Android versions as well as 8+. As an Android developer, you’ll be joining the ranks of our award-winning mobile production team, Monks Mobile. Together, you are responsible for building and maintaining our mobile apps. This means you’ll need to be an expert at exterminating bugs and have the perseverance to outlive ever-improving iterations of the same app.

Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you will join our award-winning development department. 
  • You’ll be joining the ranks of our mobile production team that develops applications for the world’s leading agencies and brands, targeting the latest and greatest versions of Android. 
  • Alongside other Android (and iOS) developers, you are responsible for building (and maintaining) apps that offer multifarious functionalities: including an all-star coffee app. 
  • As part of Monks, you are part of the most awesome production company on the planet, operating as ‘one office in 22 locations’ with an incredible in-house team of 2500+ Monks worldwide.

  • About You

    The essentials:

  • You know the Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle and git-flow like the back of your hand. 
  • You speak English as well as the native tongue of Kotlin. 
  • Production experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • You’re an expert at exterminating bugs and have the perseverance to endure ever-improving iterations of the same app. 
  • You like to be up-to-date with development processes and libraries, and you’re always looking for ways to improve your codebases.
  • Modern Android Development best practices.
  • Knowledge on topics that go beyond the code: Performance, Security, Memory Leaks.
  • Experience with Retrofit / Ktor, Room, Dagger / Koin, Android Architecture Components, Coroutines Framework and Testing.
  • Architecture Patterns (MVVM + UDF, MVP) as well as understanding of clean architecture and SOLID principles.
  • Your feeling for Figma leaves nothing to the imagination.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of multi-module project structures and experience configuring them efficiently using Gradle (and Convention Plugins).
  • Actual hands on experience of setting up and maintaining CI/CD such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins and Bitrise.
  • Passionate about using static analysis tools like Detekt and Ktlint to proactively maintain high code quality standards.
  • Proven experience with writing tests and an understanding of how to make code testable both by using mocks and fakes, as well as through architectural decisions.
