At our Innovation, Creation and Design center Hilversum, Flavorists are creating new flavors and Application Technologists are using them in our unique IFF Product DesignTM approach, delivering on our customer’s needs.

As a Culinary Application Technologist, you will be responsible for the product development of various culinary food product designs for IFF customers across the region. To be successful in the role you have to demonstrate the ability to work within a cross functional team and in close contact with colleagues in other sites throughout Europe.

How you will contribute

Drive sales through a strong customer focus:

  • Responsible for close partnership with regional, local, and multinational clients
  • Support Sales team with product demonstrations, presentations and promotions.
  • Strong culinary skills and creativity with a passion for exploring new flavors and ingredient and processing techniques to delight the client
  • Strong focus on portfolio knowledge and ability to apply to meet or exceed client expectations
  • Project leadership and execution

  • Leverages IFF product design and portfolio knowledge to deliver on needs of the client
  • Can translate market trends into concepts that are customer and consumer preferred
  • Develop innovative food designs that meet taste, texture, nutritional and cost requirements
  • Partners with Sensory to ensure food designs meet project expectations
  • Shares best practices and knowledge with global and local teams
  • Works closely with flavorists and chefs to optimize food designs
  • Partners with Sales to deliver the best design to clients
  • Manage project timelines ensuring Team delivers on schedule to client
  • Team & Individual development:

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate changes and challenges with the Food Design process.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for support of client or category
  • Building a community with others that have a passion for food and learning
  • What you will need to be successful

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry & Biochemistry or related disciplines is required
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in industrial food, ingredient or flavor industry
  • 2 years of experience in the Culinary role is required, with exposure to cross-functional teams
  • Proven track record in product development & commercialization – with a focus on soups, sauces and condiments (bouillon/cubes), and/or wet sauces
  • Strong organizational & time management skills
  • Ability to communicate with impact: effective presentation skills, excellent communication skills -capable of influencing at high levels within IFF and with key customers
  • Must be a team player capable of building strong relationships
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong culinary skills adept at tasting, formulating with knowledge of various culinary process techniques
  • Willingness to travel to support clients, category or internal training & promotions
  • Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in recipe development and documentation
