About the Role

The Senior FP&A Controller role is based in Hilversum (NL) and reports to the Head of FP&A. This is a highly visible, hands-on position, rich in data analytics, financial consolidation, and operational improvement opportunities. The Senior, and their team of one, build and consolidate global net revenue forecasts and results. This includes annual budget and 3-year planning, as well as quarterly forecast revisions, monthly actual reporting, ESG reporting, and any ad hoc requests. The work is performed in coordination with a large number of global and regional stakeholders, resulting in a highly orchestrated consolidation of data, deadlines, commentary and ultimately, story-telling. Presentation and communication skills are crucial, as is the ability to sort and manage large amounts of data across a wide range of systems and business areas. We are currently enhancing our global FP&A team after an intense period of growth; this role provides an opportunity to redefine and enhance the way in which reporting is performed.

About you

You are a highly organized superior planner of data, dates, and communication, knowing how and when to deliver a message and anticipating questions before they’re asked. You enjoy connecting people (client focused) and data from various sources and work wonders with spreadsheets and tools. You are an excellent time keeper, with extensive knowledge and experience in coordinating global consolidation work across Revenue, Cost, Gross Margin, as well as experience in many facets of cost of sales, overhead cost and other spending analysis. You are a people-person, which makes you a thoughtful manager who gets results and fosters trust in those around you. You work well under pressure and are able to build tools and direct others to provide the view you need quickly and effectively. You have solid business acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to manage and influence stakeholders through consensus. Strong verbal and written communication are critical as you collect global data and commentary to tell one succinct story. Ultimately, you possess an astute ability to extract data and synthesize information to create confidence in the data you may not directly own but are chosen to represent. 

Responsibilities 

  • Consolidate and deliver month end reporting, annual budgeting, long-term planning, ad hoc reporting and quarterly outlook processes and succinctly explain variances and drivers to leadership with the input of global unit leads. Includes assisting with high-level strategy and target-setting.
  • Bring together large amounts of data and input from various systems and global stakeholders to understand drivers and develop performance narratives.
  • Improve predictability and forecasting capabilities of financials and business metrics, as well as refining and quickening the reporting cycle.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including variance analysis, board decks, templates, key performance indicators (KPIs), and other leadership updates.
  • Provide analytical and strategic support to internal business partners as well as our parent company, S4 Capital.
  • Contribute to a diverse set of operational improvement projects, including deliverables such as processes analysis, solution design, implementation plans, and training/communication.
  • Drive process improvement, timelines, and scalability by developing repeatable business, operational and financial processes.
  • Oversee planning communications and calendars for global stakeholders, ensuring timely adherence to submission deadlines.
  • Cultivate global finance/business relationships, which includes engaging with our parent FP&A department, responding to evolving priorities and understanding the impacts of decisions on key stakeholders.
  • Work with Senior FP&A Controller on the cost side of the business to align revenue, people costs, margin impact, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Perform scenario analysis to assess the potential impact of business decisions.
  • Collaborate with department heads to analyze and track budget performance, identify areas of improvement, and provide recommendations for optimization and enhancement.
  • Produce process documentation and train others on the forecasting process.
  • Manage a team of one, fostering an environment of trust, support and growth.
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum 4-6 years of analytical work experience in finance, accounting, and/or any related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. 
  • Proven experience in a Senior FP&A Controller role and managing a team. Experience in the creative or production services industry is a plus.
  • Prior related experience with demonstrated finance and accounting acumen; record of progressive achievement leveraging data to influence business decision making.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, with proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and data analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, and financial metrics.
  • Proficiency in financial software and superior spreadsheet (Google Sheets) skills.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and trend identification.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful insights.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to financial and non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Fluency, clarity, and good diction in English
  • Ability to identify operational challenges, analyze problems, and autonomously develop and implement innovative solutions, demonstrating a motivated self-starter attitude focused on continuous improvement.
  • Experience with or willingness to master financial and reporting systems; prior experience with NetSuite, SFDC, Lucanet, Exact and visual analytics tools (e.g. Looker) a plus.
